Caitlin and Will Concert

Well, today, I went out with a friend to a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser, where Caitlin and Will were featured. Caitlin and Will were the winners of last year's CMT: Can You Duet? It was a very small venue and it was great that we got so close to the stage and able even to get pics taken with them... I went with a g/f from work. She's a HUGE fan. I didn't watch last season, but saw them sing at this season's finale. They have fantastic voices and really should have a CD out there, but I guess you can find their music at itunes.

Jam-Packed weekend

Well, last weekend, I didn't do much of anything... but this weekend, I'm pretty much busy every minute.

Friday night, I went out with a friend to Longhorn for some desert... have you had the Stampede??? OMG! Delicious! We shared, as it's basically HUGE... yummy.

This morning, Ivan and I went grocery shopping... a very routine thing for us to do... Early enough not to annoy Ivan with crowds and just a nice way to get out and spend time together. Our cupboards were pretty bare, so we definitely stocked up on lots of basics and loads of fruit an veggies. I'll be doing alot of cutting/storing/cooking tomorrow. Then, I went out to the movies with a friend from work... and we saw Julie and Julia... I've been sooooo eager to see this movie and loved it... I will definitely buy it when it comes out on DVD... And when that happens, I'll watch it immediately, too... AGAIN! :-) See it, if you haven't yet... I had to run to my friend, Meredith's house for some AVON books...

Oh yeah, I started selling AVON last weekend... so my first order will be submitted this week. Sooo, if any of you would like to purchase anything from me (free shipping often applies), please feel free to check out my AVON website... I'd love the orders, obviously. http://msmith4033.avonrepresentative.com/

Okay, back to my day... had to pick up books for upcoming sales... hope I can make enough to have fun! Then I can focus on paying my bills with my paycheck! LOL

Oh yeah, forgot that I checked out this new store (opened Wednesday) called Maines Source which is basically a grocery/restaurant supply store... got some great deals and will definitely be going back often! The aisle with the kitchen stuff had me drooling... Who knows, maybe after watching the Julie/Julia movie, I may be more inspired to cook with the right tools!

Drove Ivan to work tonight, too... as we are going to breakfast up in Carbondale with some friends of ours...

Soooo, then tomorrow's plan is, get up at an UNGODLY early hour... shower, go pick up Ivan, go out to breakfast, fly back home to meet Bob (Ivan's brother) on Skype for a video chat. Bob is in Spain at the moment in his 2nd home, which we've only heard about... so with the power of the internet and two webcams, we just might be able to view a bit of where he lives! I'm soooo excited.

Then, at 11, I've ordered some homemade chile verde tamales at Chicano's Restaurant on Prospect Ave in South Side Scranton and will be picking them up... we are going to freeze them and have from time to time. Yum! The taste takes me back to my roots.... growing up in Southern California, you get homemade tamales alot... and these are my first since I've moved to the East Coast (about 13 years ago)... crazy! and GOOD!

Then, tomorrow, I will be heading to Mt. Top for a concert with a friend from work (it's been alot of UPSers this weekend) LOL The show is Caitlin and Will from Can You Duet, last year on the CMT station... I'm not super familiar with them, but for $5, I thought, why not? I'd love to get out for a bit and hear some great country music. I think there is a biker ride or event for charity that is taking place at the same time... we'll see about that and I'll shoot pics!

Then, a few AVON calls for orders tomorrow night... then bed and a full work week! Not as much fun as the fun I am having this weekend!

A Day in the Life...

Hello everyone... well, I haven't posted when I said I would! grrr. Now, honestly, I am on the pc enough to do this daily, but it's just not a current habit of mine. Right now, my days start off in a bad mood, just kidding! LOL But, I am sooooo not a morning person! At all!

I wake up and make sure the pc is up and running. Now, I either shower first, or post on weightwatchers.com first. I've been posting on the WW website for over 1 1/2 years now. First started with a thread called SCRAPBOOKING QUEEN - CALLING ALL CROPPERS! (in the 100+ Pounds to Lose message board) and then wanted to start up a thread in the Neighbors message board. I've called it NEPA LOSERS and that's more my baby. That's the thread that is up to me to start up every day so that others can find it when they wake up. I enjoy the friends I've met on those threads... Also, it helps me not stray too far the "losing weight" goal in my life right now.

Then it's a frenzy for grabbing shower/lunch/kisses from Ivan and getting out the door in time to get to work. Plus, I carpool with a fellow employee, so have to go and pick her up. Then it's work... til 4:30 pm.

After work, it's usually, drop off my co-worker at home, then get home myself, where dinner is either waiting or very close to being done. When I was younger, I often ate late at night, but know that it isn't the healthiest habit, so we've totally grabbed hold of being done by 7 pm in my house.

Then I, being the TV addict that I am, usually plop down in front of the TV for the night. That is NOT healthy, I know... sometimes I go online, but I pretty much do that in the mornings... so maybe making some time for it at night is the habit I need to create for myself.

The weekends are usually just more of the same stuff, but usually I have interests that I like to take part in... now, this is the first year I've really tried to get out of my comfort zone and get out in the real world to do things. So, even if it's not running a marathon or going to the gym, it's way more active than I've been in a very long time. I've been visiting gardens (as I've said before)... or I find places to visit that are interesting to me and a couple of friends that have decided that it isn't so bad seeing me more than just at the ol' place of employment.

My interests still are: Family (alot of me choosing to stay home alot is my love for just hanging with my husband and my son)... TV Watching, Movie going, going out with friends to try new food spots... some hobbies are: Digital Photography... love taking pics and then sharing them with friends or scrapbooking them... Any craft that grabs my attention and seems fairly easy but yet still allows my own creativity to shine through. Some things that I do only IF I'm in the mood for them: Cooking. I'm not super domestic... so certain things I just have to be in the mood for... and I've often blogged about doing those things... spending entire days cooking and getting food setup for the week ahead... or some home project that allows me to enjoy my home more...

Gardening... well, this is a topic that I claimed all last year into just loving... but the truth of it is that I love gardens and don't know the first thing about them to create one in my own yard. So, this frustrates me to no end. I have planted alot of things in my yard this year, but haven't maintained any of it... so it's very disappointing and I know I'm not doing right by it... :-( I wish I had enough money to get someone over here to do it for me and then I can just maintain after the fact...

I think that's a good post for now... Oh yeah, I'm still a total techie and love to twitter and look at websites and such as that...

Also, the desire to create a blog that I have lots of followers to is still there... so, I need to try to post daily and build up a following... Let's hope that happens! LOL

Grrr, when I post from phone, the enter key submits post. Great! Soooo, guess no new paragraphs and I just text and let it all just run together... I apologize! I hope to blog more often and have even decided to take on a new direction that will underline this blog... I will show you all, thru my blogs. The lovely city I live in. Ivan and I love it here so much and know that there is just so much to share with those that have never been here... obviously we are lovers of food, but also lovers of the city here... so I will post reviews of food joints, stores, places, etc. So, stay tuned. First stop is this Friday. I have two girlfriends from work that I basically want to adopt into my family. We all get along so well and enjoy a lot of the same things and they love my son, so who could ask for more? Anyway, they will come along on a lot of these excursions, especially if they involve food. I will try to post their opinions as well. Friday, we are going to check out this new store called Greenbeing, which is an eco-friendly store that has just opened... then eat at Brixx Grill. Should be a fun night.

Why is the posting from the phone turn my blogs into a big mess? Anyone else have this problem... basically had to come in via my laptop and repost this and delete other posts... Frustrating...

Gonna post a recipe that Ivan found and has been using:

Bombay Potatoes:

Cut unpeeled potatoes into large wedges (1 lb)

Boil for about 20 min. Drain and let cool.

Frying pan: 4 TBLS olive oil, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp chili powder, mix over heat til mustard seeds start popping...

Then toss potatoes in and fry til they are as crispy as you want them.

That's it! They are YUMMY!
